Another August Milestone at London Array

Earlier this month we reached the landmark of installing the 100th turbine at London Array.  At 13.20 on Thursday 30th August 2012 the last of the 177 monopiles was installed at the offshore site by the HLV Svanen.

Four installation vessels have been used to install foundations at London Array – A2 Sea’s SeaWorker, MPI Adventure, HLV Svanen and Sea Jack, with the Matador 3 also used for the installation of the offshore substation foundations.

MPI Adventure completed installation activities at London Array earlier this month and has now left the site.  Sea Jack will continue to install the project’s remaining 17 transition pieces, with Sea Worker and MPI Discovery continuing to install wind turbines at the offshore site.

Phase 1 of London Array will feature 175 turbines with a combined capacity of 630MW. Major construction is due to be completed by the end of the year.
