London Array Community Fund – 2026 Summer Awards Announced

Nine charities have been awarded a total of over £34,000.

Since construction in early 2012, RWE-operated London Array has supported charities and community groups in the local area, thanks to the generous input from our shareholders, RWE Renewables, La Caisse, Greencoat and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar.

London Array continues to work with Kent Community Foundation, who manages the applications and distributes the £38,250 fund on behalf of the wind farm.

For 2026, awards were made available for applicants working within one or more key areas: Mental Health and Wellbeing, Children, Young People and Families, Crisis and Basic Needs, Connected Communities and Environment. The charities who best fit with these key areas and the amounts awarded are listed below.

Co-Relate Communications

Green Skills and Opportunities – this project targets young people aged 16-24 in Thanet, bringing them together with established green businesses and community organisations. This project will fund a ‘Future Thanet Green Skills and Opportunities’ Fair at Ramsgate Harbour, linked to the launch of Ramsgate’s Green Campus event. The aim is to showcase the range of green opportunities available in Thanet and build knowledge of environmental and ‘green’ jobs among young people, their families and the general public.

Awarded: £4,993

Discovery Planet

Funding to support core costs for delivery of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) free courses to many young people from SEN (Special Needs Schools), primary schools, secondary schools and community events in and around Ramsgate.

Awarded: £3,000

Foreland Fields Charity

Funding for Traineeships to continue a supported traineeship pathway for young people with Special Educational Needs aged 19–25 linked to Foreland Fields School and the wider Thanet community.

Awarded: £3,000

Graveney & Goodnestone Village Hall

Funding for a new floor – the Hall is used for community events, private hire (parties), the Parish Council, a yoga group and local meetings. An essential repair as they potentially would have to close the hall, if the flooring is not replaced, thereby losing income.

Awarded: £5,000

Newington Community Association

Family Cooking Club – supporting the local community by organising activities, events and services aimed at improving the quality of life for local residents. They wish to set up a weekly cooking club for key stage 2 children (ages 7 to 11) and their parent/carer who will gain knowledge, skills and confidence. These fun interactive sessions will be delivered in their new Cookery School, challenging the relationship that parents/carers and children have towards food and each other.

Awarded: £2,000

Thanet Countryside Trust

Funding schools trips to visit Monkton Nature Reserve and offer outdoor learning opportunities to mainly local schools through the provision of a combined transport and environmental education initiative. Children (ages 5-17 years) will be brought to the reserve to learn about environmental awareness, biodiversity and clean energy in a stimulating education programme.

Awarded: £4,900

Thanet Wanderers Rugby Union Football Club Ltd

School and Community project – the grant will permit Thanet Wanderers Rugby Club to continue the Schools and Community programme. For children who take part in the project it offers the opportunity to build social confidence, nurture emotional resilience and encourage a healthy lifestyle. The school visits/sessions have an excellent extra curricular activity and appreciated by the schools and the students.

Awarded: £4,250

The Zone Youth Club

Funding towards running the Youth Club. They deliver four sessions each week for children and young people aged between 5-16, directly after school (3-5pm): two junior (primary school) sessions and two senior (secondary school) sessions. They also run holiday clubs each half term and Easter and Summer. They also run a weekly football club for children of local families who cannot afford to travel further afield for training.

Awarded: £2,000

Windmill Community Gardens Margate

Funding for Solar Panels, anticipated to be installed late this year, once the funding for their e-van has been secured. This will reduce operating costs across the board and generate energy to supply charge to the Market Garden. Windmill Community Gardens was established in 2004, and their purpose is to increase access to fresh, local, healthy food and to provide a shared outdoor space for the community to enjoy the benefits of physical activity together, whilst having contact with wildlife, reducing social isolation, cultivating and sharing their skills and strengths and reaching their potential.

Awarded: £5,000

Total Summer Awards: £34,143
