Jason to the rescue

Jason LeddenLondon Array employee, Jason Ledden, saved two eight year old boys who were in trouble in the sea on Tuesday 24th July.  Jason, who was on his way to a vessel audit, was parked on the marina’s eastern arm sorting paperwork when a young girl banged on his window pleading for help.

Jason said, “I was wearing my overalls so the young lady asked if I worked at the harbour. I could see she was really agitated so I asked what wrong and she said a boy was drowning on the other side of the pier.  I could see one of the boys was underwater and his friend was holding him up.”

Jason, our Diving Coordinator and HSE Advisor, is also a trained medic, grabbed a life buoy and threw it over shouting to the boy holding his friend to grab it.  Jason then pulled the boys along the wall out of the tide and jumped in to save them.  Jason was able to treat the boys until lifeguards and paramedics arrived shortly after.

The whole London Array team are extremely proud of Jason - his quick thinking and fast responses stopped this from becoming a much more serious incident.
