Kent’s Coastal Week was launched in style in Ramsgate (Sunday October 28) with a wide range of activities celebrating the continuing importance of the Royal Harbour to the town.

London Array, a sponsor of the Coastal Week celebrations organised by Kent County Council, treated numerous visitors to a chance to board the Marianarray, one of the wind farm’s state-of-the-art Crew Transfer Vessels, which was moored by the CustomHouse.

Meanwhile, the London Array team’s display recalled the history of the harbour and challenged would-be marine engineers of all ages to tackle the challenges of boat design, maximising wind power and floating marbles.

Joanne Haddon, of London Array, said: “It was a really good start to Kent’s Coastal Week with lots of different fun events held at the harbour and in the town to mark the occasion. There was a great deal of interest in the development of the wind farm.

“This is the second year we have sponsored Kent’s Coastal Week and we are delighted to support this celebration of the history of the county’s coast and its communities.

“It is also a particular pleasure to be able to demonstrate how the Kent coast continues to be a valuable resource making a tremendous contribution to the economy through production of renewable energy and the sustainability of our communities and our environment.”
