Substation wins top prize in the Kent and East Sussex Engineering Excellence Awards

London Array’s onshore substation at Cleve Hill, on the north Kent coast, has been named Brassey Award winner for best overall project at the 2012 Kent and East Sussex Engineering Excellence Awards.

Rob James, Chair of the judging panel explained “The judges were impressed with the efforts of the project to minimise the impact on the local community during construction and the legacy that the project has created.  The local community has been left with a striking architectural wall to shield the site, increased employment opportunities, a nature conservation fund and a bursary scheme to support local students wishing to enter the engineering industry.”

The awards were presented at Leeds Castle by ICE Senior Vice President Barry Clarke.
